Bio

Caitlin Peters (b. 1984) is a painter, mixed-media and collage artist based in Dallas, Texas. She studied Art and Art History at Texas Christian University, where she minored in Italian and Women’s Studies, and at the Lorenzo de’ Medici Art Institute in Florence, Italy.

Caitlin’s work is influenced by her love of art history, design, vintage finds, travel, and the stories behind the people, places, and objects she encounters. She finds inspiration in the colors, textures, patterns, and details of everyday life- from nature and collected objects to experiences gathered along the way. Outside of the studio, she enjoys time with her funny, music-loving husband and three awesome kids.

Artist’s Statement

My work is rooted in color, immediacy, and an intuitive response to the world around me. While my subject matter varies — from abstract compositions to more representational works and collage — I continually return to the interplay of color, texture, and pattern as a visual language.

When creating, I allow the conversation between colors to guide my next move —whether toward harmony or discord. The relationship between color, texture, and energy keeps me inspired and curious throughout the process. I focus on colors and textures that reflect my current emotions while leaving room for the viewer to interpret their own meaning.
